Kerry County Council is to ask the Kerry Education and Training Board to consider a course for Tidy Towns volunteers on new regulations on the spraying of pesticides. Under new EU regulations due to come into effect in November, certified training will be required for anyone purchasing professional pesticide products. Sinn Féin councillor, Damian Quigg, asked that the council provide such training for those who volunteer with local Tidy Towns groups. Area manager, John Flynn said the council was not in a position to provide training of that nature. It was agreed that the council would write to Kerry Education and Training Board asking that they consider running a course on the matter.
