Camera surveillance at recycling facilities in the county is again being examined. Kerry County Council says this is due to the abuse of the facilities by a small percentage of the population. It’s envisaged that the cameras would assist the monitoring of the bins and the frequency of collection and in turn improve the littering problem at bring banks. Una O Connor, Senior Executive Engineer of the waste management section says although camera surveillance is a costly option, the annual cost of cleaning the sites is also expensive.
