Council considers permission for 71 house Castleisland development that contravenes guidelines

Kerry County Council is considering granting planning permission to a 71 house development in Castleisland that contravenes council guidelines.

Both retention and full planning permission is being sought for the Clonough development at Bawnluskaha, on the Limerick road in Castleisland.

This application involves permission to retain and complete four semi-detached houses, previously granted permission in Clonough Grove, four houses in Clonough Avenue, three detached dwellings in Clonough Downs, and for an estate road and footpath at Bawluskaha, Castleisland.

The plans also comprise permission to build 60 homes consisting of 38 semi-detached, 10 detached, and 12 townhouses, along with a crèche.

The proposed development would materially contravene the objectives of the Kerry County Development Plan 2015 – 2021, as the site is located in an area zoned Rural General.

Plans for the development can be viewed at Kerry County Council’s offices, and submissions can be made up until the 4th of July, before the council makes a decision.
