Kerry County Council is trying to secure the transfer of land from CIE and Irish Rail to develop two walkways in the county. Management met recently with officials from the Department of Tourism and Sport to discuss the projects. It is hoped to develop walkways from Tralee to Fenit and the Great Southern Trail between Listowel and the Limerick border. The May meeting of councillors heard the authority has been actively pursuing the matter. Sinn Féin councillor Pa Daly asked the council to prioritise the Tralee to Fenit walkway by completing the planning process. Fianna Fáil councillor Jimmy Moloney requested an update on the Great Southern Trail.
