Kerry County Council has refuted suggestions it was ignoring requests to improve safety at the Lewis Road junction on the N22 in Killarney. Independent Cllr Brendan Cronin has requested the council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland purchase enough lands to provide a left hand slip-lane at the junction. He said too many accidents, usually involving two or more cars, had happened at that junction, which had already claimed too many lives. Director of Services Charlie O’Sullivan assured members the junction wasn’t being ignored and had been raised again by the CEO at a recent meeting with TII who are in charge of national primary and secondary roads with local authorities. He added the request would also be put in writing to Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
