Cllr Ferris calls for Tralee to progress purple flag plans

A councillor says Tralee needs to combat unjustified negativity against the town. Toiréasa Ferris. 1 Cllr Toireasa Ferris called for the town to progress plans to achieve a purple flag, which honours excellence in the management of a town or city centre area between the hours of 5pm and 5am. Director of Services with Kerry County Council John Breen said the flag means that those from the age of two to 92 can use the streets. Cllr Ferris said the award, which Killarney achieved in May 2014, would benefit all and would give those who don’t go out in Tralee the confidence to do so. Council management are to have the proposal investigated and return a report at the next Tralee Municipal District meeting.
