Changes to permits to cull Kerry red deer

The National Parks and Wildlife Service has reviewed the permits for culling red deer in Kerry.
In December, there was anger when it was alleged that an American tourist had paid €5,000 to shoot a red deer stag near Killarney National Park.
Landowners whose property is being damaged by deer can apply for a licence to cull the animal and name a hunter to do so.
Just before Christmas the matter was the subject of a meeting between the NPWS and the Wild Deer Association of Ireland.
