Chair of IT Tralee says nothing to fear from merger with Cork IT

The new Chairman of the Institute of Technology Tralee says people shouldn’t fear its merger with Cork Institute of Technology.

Lionel Alexander, who was appointed Chairman of the Governing Body of ITT last September, was speaking about the two colleges coming together to form the Munster Technological University.

He understands people are afraid Cork will eclipse Tralee when the new university is created, but says Tralee will not be left behind.

Lionel Alexander says getting university into the college’s name will secure its future; he believes this is needed to attract students from abroad to Tralee.
