Ceann Sibeál Star Wars set exempt from planning

The Star Wars set on Ceann Sibeál is an “exempted development” and as such does not require planning permission. Star Wars village set, Ceann Sibéal, Dingle PeninsulaThat’s according to a Kerry County Council spokesperson, who confirmed to Radio Kerry News this is due to the “temporary nature” of the set. Work has escalated in recent weeks on the set – which is situated west of Dingle on a scenic headland close to Baile an Fheirteáraigh village, overlooking the Blasket Islands. Large beehive structures have been constructed on-site, akin to those on Sceilig Mhíchíl which featured in Star Wars: Episode VII, A council spokesperson confirmed also, permits for filming at Ceann Sibeál have been granted by the Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht. Filming is understood to be taking place next month.
