A man in his 20’s is in a comfortable condition in hospital after a stabbing incident in Castleisland. The incident took place on the main street at around 5 o clock yesterday afternoon. The man was walking down the street when he was approached by two youths, and an altercation took place. He received a stab wound to his stomach. The injured man was immediately brought to Kerry General Hospital. Nursing staff say he is in a comfortable condition this morning.The incident follows a number of serious rows in the town between members of the settled and Traveller Community. On Sunday night up to 25 people were involved in a massive brawl on the main street. Over 10 Gardai were called to the scene of that incident. Locals have been calling for a new Garda Station to be provided immediately to help curb the public order problems in the town.
