A Ballybunion councillor has called on Kerry County Council to reduce the speed limit on a portion of road between Ballinclogher Cross and Abbeydorney, in the interest of health and safety. Cllr Robert Beasley says the road’s surface had degraded further in recent times. The Sinn Féin councillor is calling on the council to reduce the speed limit on the portion of road to 50km per hour as people are “bouncing along it” and there are fears that “lives could be lost”. Kerry County Council said it was to commence the ‘County Wide Speed Limit Process’. They said the speed limit review was ongoing and the request to include the R556 Ballinclogher Cross to Abbeydorney Village will be considered as part of the process.
