Public toilets should be installed in the Black Valley to facilitate the large number of tourists who visit the area. That’s according to Independent councillor, Dan McCarthy, who said there are no toilets in the valley between Kate Kearney’s Cottage and Kenmare. Cllr McCarthy said that walkers calling to private houses to use toilet facilities was a daily occurrence in the Black Valley in the summertime. Cllr Johnny Healy-Rae asked if the toilets at the Black Valley school could be opened during the summer months. Municipal district manager, Martin O’Donoghue, said this would be examined in the context of a wider review of public conveniences in the county.
