A green party activist in the county is calling for a cap on spending in local elections. David Grey also says the use of Dail envelopes should be included as part of a candidate`s election spend. Mr Grey`s remarks follow the publication of details of spending by candidates in June`s local election. The average campaign cost five and a half thousand while the biggest spend was 20,000 euro. He says he would like to see a number of changes to the current system.
