The use of Jet Skis, Quad Bikes and Airboats are having serious implications for the natural wildlife on beaches and sand dunes around the Kerry coast, according to the Friends of the Irish Environment organisation. Michael O Coileain from the Environment and Water Services Department of Kerry County Council says legislation to put a ban on jet skis in certain areas of Kerry should be in place by next summer. He says the purpose of the legislation is not only to protect wildlife but also to protect the safety of people. Friends of the Environment spokesperson Tony Lowes says parts of Kerry have already suffered from these activities.
