Government ministers will this morning consider a proposal to set up an all-party committee to plan the future of the health service. The motion was proposed by 89 opposition TDs and an amended version will be brought to this morning cabinet meeting. The motion would establish a committee which would report within 6 months and devise a 10 year plan for the health service. It’s understood Health Minister Simon Harris is supportive of the plan. It’s already supported by a majority of TDs in the Dail including Fianna Fáil and Sinn Fein.
