Bridge linking Killarney bus and train stations is ruled out

A bridge linking Killarney’s bus and train stations has again been ruled out.

Cllr Michael Gleeson of the Kerry Independent Alliance raised the issue at the monthly meeting of Kerry County Council.

The stations are currently separated with a high fence meaning passengers must walk through Killarney Outlet Centre.

Cllr Gleeson said the direct link should be provided out of respect for individual’s dignity.

In response to a similar motion over a year ago Bus Eireann said the demand for such investment significantly exceeds funding available and despite there being merit in connecting both stations funding restrictions prevent it in the short term.

Iarnród Eireann did not reply to the request.
