Book of evidence in Waterville Post Office robbery case with DPP

The book of evidence in cases arising from the robbery of Waterville Post Office on August 3rd is currently with the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Tralee District Court was told that Gardaí are awaiting direction from the DPP which is expected within a fortnight.

At a previous sitting, Tralee District Court heard that the book of evidence was delayed as there was a lot of work in preparing it.

32-year old Brian O’Sullivan with an address at Coolies, Muckross, Killarney and 36-year-old Marcus O’Rourke of Rathanane, Kilcummin are both charged with four offences each in connection with the robbery.

These are the robbery of cash to the value of approximately €5,000 from Waterville post mistress Lisa O’Reilly Foran; ramming a garda car; having a firearm – or imitation firearm – with intent to commit an offence; and damage to garda property.

Solicitor Nuala Liston again reminded the court that her clients have been in custody since August third.

Judge James O’Connor further remanded them in custody until November 16th where its expected the book of evidence will be presented.
