Bishop of Kerry urges people to vote

The Bishop of Kerry has urged people to appreciate our country, serve it wholeheartedly and to cast their vote on February 26th. In a statement issued on the upcoming election, Bishop Ray Browne says that Christian people will always say no to abortion. In his statement Bishop Ray Browne expresses appreciation and gratitude to the Kerry TD’s and Senators for their service over the past five years. New Bishop of Kerry Ray Browne However he says that nationwide there is a realisation that there is no room for complacency and there are great needs and challenges still to be faced. He says these include hospital and disability services, significantly reduced pay levels, housing, child poverty, unemployment and crime. Bishop Browne says that abortion is an issue that is highly sensitive for many people. He says that Christian people will always says no to abortion, and to repeal the 8th Amendment is to say that difficulties with acknowledging ” the right to life of the unborn, with due regard to the equal right to life of the mother” can be resolved by reducing to nought the right to life of the unborn. Bishop Browne concludes by saying that a health wholesome country is one in which there is a basic civic spirit of care for all fellow citizens and urges everyone to cast their vote.
