Applications are now being accepted from those who want to attend the state ceremonial events to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising. On April 21st there will be events at Ballykissane Pier in Killorglin at 8am and on Banna Strand at midday where President Michael D Higgins will officiate. Relatives, descendants or those interested are being asked to apply for tickets to the Ballykissane Pier event as space is limited; tickets will be allocated on a lottery basis. There will be a reserved area on Banna Strand and tickets will be needed for this but the standing area will not require a ticket. Applications must be submitted to Kerry County Council by March 23rd.
