Appeal to Kerry householders to think twice about food waste

A Kerry county councillor is appealing to householders and retailers in the county, to think twice about what they do with their waste food.

Cllr Michael Gleeson said he was horrified on two occasions recently, to see a huge amount of still-edible food being disposed of, by a large retailer.
He recently raised this issue at the monthly meeting of Kerry County Council.
Cllr Gleeson praised the work of the Food Share Kerry Initiative, which works closely with supermarkets and other food outlets to donate good quality surplus food to those in need, in the county.
