An announcement due yesterday on the future of cromane pier has been further delayed until Wednesday or Thursday. Plans for the development of the pier have been ongoing for a number of years and a decision was originally due three weeks ago. The application for a new pier worth 6 or 7 million euro at crowes point in lower cromane and an access road is now before an board pleanala.Kerry County Council forwarded the application to the Planning Appeals Board after an environmental impact statement was ordered by the Department of the Marine. Presently there are 6 objections and 2 submissions lodged with the board. It was hoped last year that construction would be completed by the end of 2005, it is now likely to be the end of 2006 before completion.
