Anglers consider their position ahead of elections.

Anglers in Kerry are being asked to consider their position before voting ahead of the elections next week. Anglers in Kerry and Cork are angry at the government decision to allow the continued testing of the monofilament net in Cork harbour despite a report commissioned by the government stating the danger it poses to fish stocks. The Anglers Association in Kerry believes that the continued testing of the net is a smokescreen for the greater exploitation of salmon. Jerome Dowling Secretary of the Salmon and Sea Trout Anglers Association says they do not support any party that advocates the further reduction of salmon stocks.
