Almost 44 million euro was spent on Kerry’s roads this year. Kerry County Council received 32 million euro in grant aid towards improvement works and maintenance of the road network. 12 million was provided from local sources such as rates and the property tax. The funding allowed for improvements to around 160 kilometres of roads in the past year. Due to the high level of collection of the local property tax in Kerry the county was allocated an additional three million euro in grant aid in late summer.
