A 5 million euro project which offers a bed to relatives of patients at Cork University Hospital got underway yesterday. The facility will be open to people from Kerry, Waterford, Tipperary, Limerick and Clare visiting patients in any of the Cork hospitals.Based in Wilton in Cork the site was donated by Cork City Council to the knights of st columbanus for development. Bro Columbanus will be completed by the end of the year and will be open to families regardless of economic, social, cultural or religious status. According to St Columbanus Knight Jim Leahy the centre will provide a caring, comfortable, and welcoming environment for family members during a distressing time.
