The stand-off between planners and Councillors which started six months ago reached new levels in recent weeks when over 80 section 140 motions were submitted. 90 per cent of them refer to the Killorglin and Killarney areas. To prepare for next Monday`s meeting, planners say they’ve to close the office until all the reports are ready. This means nobody will be available to take phone calls or meet with applicants or their agents until next Tuesday. Ironically, the office will also be closed to Councillors who make routine representations on behalf of their constituents. Should the slew of motions continue, it looks like the regular business of the planning office will be affected, depriving applicants of the usual service.
