An application for nine holiday homes in Ballydavid has been granted despite growing opposition to this type of development in West Kerry. As it stands only 16 residents live in the 57 houses in the area. Locals, planning groups and national organisations say ballydavid is in danger of becoming saturated with this type of development.Another application for 11 holiday homes is still with the local authority. If both applications were granted it would bring to 80 the number of holiday homes in Ballydavid, with only 16 full time residents. Objectors to the applications say Iver development is putting severe pressure on sewerage systems, roads and other essential services.
