Up to half of passengers and drivers in the county now wear seatbelts when travelling. Although this figure may rise following a number of upcoming events which traditionally sees a number of drunk driving arrests.Sgt O Connell says the majority of arrests for this offence occur at the weekend. However the number of road deaths goes against the national trend. 11 people lost their lives in 2003. 10 people have died on the county`s roads so far this year.
