537 cases of superbug treated in Kerry General in 2004

The Irish Patients Association says the number of people effected by the MRSA superbug needs to be known in order to treat it effectively. It`s emerged that patients in Kerry General tested positive for 537 cases of the bug last year, 180 of which were acquired through the hospital.Steve McMahon of the Irish Patients Association says he is not surprised that the problem is widespread as patients are more prone to illness. He says not every country may be reporting cases of MRSA to the same level as Ireland.
