People are entitled to refuse local authority housing if they choose to do so, according to Threshold. There has been a 35 percent refusal rate made to Tralee Town Council from people who have been offered local authority housing in the new Rath an Oraigh development. Single people have emerged as the demographic that are finding it most difficult to climb the waiting list. Bob Jordan says it’s up to local authorities to asses the needs of the applicants.
