Over 2,000 people are said to have been affected by a phone and internet fault in the Dingle area. Many people in the area have been unable to access cash from ATMs this morning and bank services are also understood to have been affected. Credit card services are also said to be down in several local shops and businesses. According to a statement released by Eir, high winds arising from Storm Jake have damaged the radio link which serves over 700 broadband customers and over 2,000 landline customers locally. Eir’s networks team are currently onsite and working to restore service to all impacted customers as quickly as possible. There is no definite restoration time but estimates point towards the later afternoon. We will provide further updates on the situation as the day progresses.
