22 Kerry people were adjudicated bankrupt from 2014 to the end of the first quarter of this year. Figures released by the Insolvency Service of Ireland show Kerry to be on the lower end of the national scale, with Kildare having the highest number of bankruptcies per capita. Nationally, the number of people declared bankrupt is lower than the last quarter or equivalent quarter last year. The Insolvency Service of Ireland report continued growth in new applications, protective certificates and approved arrangements in the first quarter–following on from the introduction of a one-year bankruptcy term from the 29th of January. Meanwhile, there were 479 bankruptcy adjudications last year in Ireland, up 31 from the previous year.
