2177 Local Authority houses in Kerry in need of upgrading

Over two thousand local authority houses rented in the county are poorly heated, according to a new report. The report reveals Kerry is fifth on the list of counties with 2177 houses in need of upgrading. Under a new initiative between the Department of Environment and Kerry County Council these houses will have new gas or oil-fired systems installed. The program will also cover energy improvement measures. Elderly people living in Local Authority Accommodation will be given priority when work begins.
