Killarney Summerfest kicks off tonight. The event is expected to attract over 100,000 people over the next 10 days. The main attractions are the gigs being held at Fitzgerald Stadium, which will feature Snow Patrol, Paddy Casey, Meatloaf and Status Quo. A special radio station Summerfest FM – hosted by Brian Hurley – will be on air for the festival to provide information for Killarney residents as well as visitors and concert goers. Festival chairman Patrick o Donohue says the majority of the funding is spent on the on street entertainment and advance promotion.
