Many areas remain flooded this morning in Kerry, as a result of Storm Desmond, which hit the county this weekend. Some roads across the county are still closed as a result of the flooding. However the main Killarney Cork road has re-opened. The Defence Forces and Gardai were called out to assist people caught by the floodwaters. Ger O’Brien from the Kerry County Council has given the following update. In Tralee the Ballymullen area remains flooded. The Tralee ByPass is still closed from the Rose Roundabout to Ballygarry House Hotel but will be opened shortly as waters recede. The Castlemaine Road is still closed and is likely to remain closed for the day. In the Killarney Area the Molls Gap Road is still closed. In Killarney Town -Ross Road, Mill Road at White bridge, and Ballycasheen at Bowlers Garage are still closed. The road from Glenflesk to Baradubh remains closed due to flooding. The N22 Cork Road and R569 road to Kilgarvan are now open. Knocknaboul Bridge will remain closed with Diversions in place The Foiladown road at Clonkeen killarney is also still closed due to flooding. There are no other major issues to report at this time. All Drivers asked to exercise caution when travelling on the roads today as there will still be patches of flooding and grit and debris remaining on the roads. Meanwhile all flights in and out of Kerry airport are operating on schedule.
